tree? Let's see - how about a warm, flaky apple pie or a cider glazed
apple rollover right out of the oven? Make your selection from the Pine
Tree Orchard bakery and you won't need to lift a finger - just a fork.
The
Pine Tree Orchard Bakery is famous throughout this area for creating a
variety of special apple treats. Our pies have received rave notices
for many years. Folks say they taste "homemade". That's not surprising
because they are homemade, from
scratch with the freshest of ingredients. Even the pie crusts are light
and tasty. It's easy to serve a delicious slice of pie to a large or
small gathering without a lot of work.
APPLE DELIGHTS
Here are a few wonderful things to select:
Apple Pie – Baked up sweet and juicy and carefully spiced, then lovingly wrapped in a delicate crust.
Apple Rollover – Phenomenal puff pastry filled with apples and topped with sweet spicy cider icing. Our signature item.
Apple
Doughnut – Traditional cake doughnuts with the Pine Tree
touch...applesauce and apple cider add toothsome texture, with or
without cinnamon sugar.
Apple Muffins – Ours are filled to the peak with good things, makes for a good breakfast.
Besides
our standard fare we make many other seasonal desserts, such as Apple
Pecan, Strawberry Rhubarb, Blueberry Apple, Dutch Apple and Apple
Crunch pies, Graham Apple Bread, Apple Dumplings and Apple Sauce. We
even make some pies especially for the holidays, like Mincemeat pie and
Pumpkin pie. Reservations are taken for holiday pie pick-up, just call
the orchard to reserve yours 651-429-7202.
STRAWBERRY CREATIONS
When
the strawberries are ripe and ready for picking our strawberry bakery
is ready too. We make such delicacies as fresh Strawberry Pies,
Strawberry-Rhubarb Rollovers, Strawberry Rhubarb Pies and of course
those Strawberry Muffins that are to die for. Our bakery is open every
day during the strawberry season.
And if you were not able to come out to our strawberry patch during the season ( mid-June to mid-July) you're still in luck.
We have strawberries, picked at the height of flavor and freshness,
then frozen in pints or individually in pound bags, as well as jams and
jellies, frozen strawberry rhubarb pie, and assorted strawberry cakes.
These items are available all through the apple season.
THE INCIDER STORY
In the good old days, fermented apple cider was practically a national
beverage, despite ( or because of) its less-than-sobering effects.
Although not fermented, today's apple cider is still "intoxicating" but
only because of its fresh, 100% natural flavor.
Not
only is cider delicious, it's good for you too. According to the
International Apple Institute, the pectin in apples helps keep
cholesterol down. And cider is high in potassium and low in salt. It
makes a delicious and healthful alternative to soft drinks.
Bill Jacobson's special blending of sweet and tart juices, no sugar added, makes Pine Tree Orchard's cider special. Squeezed fresh
and pasteurized it's available in half and full gallon containers. And
don't forget how good hot cider is on chilly fall and winter evenings.
Stock up - you may freeze it if the container has about a cup's worth
of space for expansion.
JAM, JELLIES, AND OTHER GIFTS
Besides
being a beautiful place to visit, the orchard is also a great shopping
stop. In connection with our apple/bakery market we also have a gift
shop as well. Well stocked with great apple kitchen gadgets and country
flavored gift items. We have fantastic jams and jellies made with the
pick of our crop, and maple syrup and honey too.
CARAMEL APPLES
Pine
Tree's caramel apples are simply the very best. The caramel is so sweet
and gooey and the apples so juicy and tart , it's dribble down your
chin goodness. In season from mid August through October.
